Philosophy & Curriculum

Good Shepherd Preschool is here to partner with families to provide nurturing care that shepherds children’s hearts and a well-rounded education for children that encourages them to grow spiritually, cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally. We strive to maintain a balance of play-based curriculum that incorporates real-life experiences and exploration, as well as academic hands-on activities that are facilitated by the teacher with specific goals and skills in mind.

Bible stories covering the basics of the Christian faith from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are taught age-appropriately daily. Free choice “work time” (play time), as well as teacher-led group activities, will also take place daily. Students begin their exploration of letter formation, recognition, and sounds at age 3 and continue mastery of these skills in ages 4-5. Multi-sensory activities are planned to encourage learning in music, art, social studies, science, math, reading, and large and small motor skills. All of these planned activities take into account the individual needs and interests of each child in the group, regardless of age.

A Typical Morning Schedule

The schedule is very flexible and may vary depending on each child’s needs, interests, and abilities for the day. The schedule is a tool to make the day run more smoothly and to give the students a feeling of adhering to a routine.

The Afternoon Schedule will include lunch, rest time, more physical activities, one-on-one review and group enrichment activities, free choice “work time” and story time.

  2. Meeting the required ratios for teachers to students;
  3. Offering catered hot lunch served from our newly remodeled Licensed kitchen;

We care about providing an environment that is not only educationally solid and faith building, but also adheres to the highest health and safety standards.
